Invent a Toy for Firebox

Fireboxhave teamed up with Stuff magazine to launch a national competition designed to find the next ‘must-have’ toy for 2010. Entries can be sent in any form that you like and there’s no need for a formal pitch. Judges are taken from the top sectors of the toy industry and will pick out the best idea from the bunch.

The winning idea will be developed, manufactured and sold by Firebox, and the winner will receive 50% of our profits for the lifetime of the product. There is no age limit for this competition and no experience necessary. Your product suggestion could take the form of a drawing, photo, video, or doodle on a beer mat. Whether it’s a long email, a short tweet or arrives by carrier pigeon; any entry format goes. Visit their website for more information

Sprig Toys – innovative and award winning

We have recently received some of the fabulous Sprig toys to review and we are really excited! Winners of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio 2009 Platinum Award and The National Parenting Center’s 2009 Seal of Approval, among other acclamations, we have been desperate to try these out. For those of you who haven’t heard of them, Sprig toys are an eco-friendly, pre-school range that harness kinetic energy so light up, and make sounds without the need for batteries!

Made from a child-safe, bio-composite material made from recycled wood and reclaimed plastic, the toys are affordable designed to encourage outdoor play with a range that includes an Excavator, Loader and Dump Truck. Elmo Live! – the video

He’s in stock and on a video – I’m so excited I’m hopping up and down as I attempt to write this! The kind boys at Firebox have given us a video of the crazy Sesame Street muppet in action, and have announced that they will have him in stock by Thursday of this week. Prezzybox are already selling him here, so there is a chance you can get him even sooner! The excitement is almost too much to bare…If I’m this excitable now, just think what I’m like on Christmas eve!

Thinking putty – fun stress relief

I loved Silly putty when I was younger – I used it for everything from a bouncy ball to making moulds. Now putty has a grown up face in the new stress relief toy from Firebox. Thinking Putty is crazy stuff – you can Shatter it, stretch it, shape it, tear it and bounce it – all in the name of at work stress relief.

Firebox Predicts the Hottest Toys this Christmas

It’s that time of the year again and Firebox has just released their 10th Christmas hot toy prediction list.

Tipped for the top spot in the “Top gift for kids” category is the new eco-friendly range of self powered toy cars from Sprig toys. The integrated push and pump energy of the cars is used to power the lights and electronics of the cars. The Sprig cars are created entirely out of a 100% child safe and paint-free material called sprigwood. This innovative bio-composite material is created from a combination recycled wood and reclaimed plastic.

Firebox also predicts that the highly fought over “Top gift for him” category will be won by the Tandem-Z Micro Chopper, the worlds first twin-rotor RC helicopter.
