The Batmobile – need we say more?

So, we’ve covered the best Batman figurines, and movie props, and now we get onto every boy’s favourite…the Batmobile. There are two extremes available for the Batman enthusiast – with one being 1/15th of the cost of the other!

For the die-hard collector you can get a 1:6 scale replica of the Dark Knight’s Batmobile and Batpod. The two mobiles are sold separately for between £300 and £380 from Forbidden Planet. The authentically detailed movie model Batmobile (Tumbler) features light-up headlights, a roof-opening panel for access to the cockpit and moveable breaking flaps. At an average of 29 inches in length, these models are definitely built for display.

For the kid who just wants to play, you can buy the two models together in their action toy version from Toys R Us. At a much more manageable scale, designed for the 5″ Batman figures, these Mattel toys are perfect accessories for the Dark Knight film. Available from Toys R Us for £24.99 for the pair.

Batman Props – become the Dark Knight!

Ok, so they may not work the same way that the real Batarangs or Grappling Launcher do, but these actual size replicas are as close as you’ll get to your own utility belt.

Limited to just 1500 pieces, the Grappling Launcher Prop replica comes with a certificate of authenticity. It’s cast from the actual prop used by Christian Bale in the film and is made of high quality resin. It comes mounted on a display base so you can display it with pride.

The Batarangs are just as limited and made in the same way, but are hand-painted cold-cast porcelain. Measuring 5″ tall x 7.5″ wide x 5″ long these guys are an essential piece of Bat armament!

Batman – the dark knight figurines

There are a multitude of Batman figures on the market to coincide with the launch of ‘The Dark Knight’, but to save you rummaging, here’s a run down of what’s available.

For the more discerning collector, the Batman Deluxe Figure (DC Direct), or the comparable Movie Masters Dark Knight from Mattel are a good choice. For a little more detail and gadgets, check out Mattel’s “Ultimate Action Figure Cape Batman”. If these figurines still aren’t detailed enough for you, you could always splash out on the incredible Movie Masterpiece figure (pictured) which comes complete with removable mask, and bares an unbelievable resemblance to Christian Bale underneath. It’s really only for the serious collector, as it will set you back a hefty £104!

For kids that just want to play, the action figures are the ideal choice. Available as Elasto Cuffs Batman, Grip Gear Batman, Ninja Training Bruce Wayne, Stealthwing Batman, Staff Strike Batman, or my personal favourite, Zipline Blaster Batman!
