Black Nintendo Wii available from Friday

The countdown is on. The new Nintento Black Wii comes to the UK this Friday. The console was previously only available in Japan, but the black Nintendo Wii will reach Europe on 6th November

The “limited edition” black Wii bundle includes the new black console plus a black Remote, Nunchuk, and MotionPlus. The box also includes a copy of Wii Sports Resort and the original Wii Sports. Nintendo has said that you will be able to buy black Wii Remotes separately from 20th November.

As with the other Nintentdo Wii’s, the Black Wii will be completely backwards compatible, even back to the NES of the 1980s. It will also feature built-in Wifi, access to the Online Wii channel, and more.

We have never seen anything like this at ToyHype before, and are quite excited about getting our hands on one! Digi You lets you take digital photographs and turn them into cartoons. The features include a built in camera, 6 animated characters with sounds to choose from and over 5minutes of sound and animation to let you turn your friends, family or even pets into cartoons!

It only requires 3 AAA batteries, and is suitable for children over the age of six. The system is available in different colours now from Character-Online for just £29.35.

Lego Batman the video game – launched today!

I loved the LEGO Star wars video game. It’s one of the few games that have ever hooked me enough for me to complete them – so I have been eagerly waiting for the new creation from Warner Bros – the LEGO Batman game. The game features co-op gameplay so you can play as Batman and Robin, who are on a mission to capture the escapees from Arkham Asylum, or you can even take control of the villains themselves. The villains have formed 3 groups, each led by a famous batman foe: The Joker, the Penguin and the Riddler, and each seeking to accomplish their own selfish goal.

The game features many of the new actions first shown in the LEGO Indiana Jones game, and each of the characters has unique talents and weapons – meaning you can play the whole game again and again, learning new things each time.

Something that made me very happy, is that the game’s score is that of the original Tim Burton Batman film by Danny Elfman….genius.

The elusive Wii Fit…

So, the much anticipated Wii Fit was released in April of this year, and was tipped to be Nintendo’s biggest selling game of the year – if you can find it… But why are they sold out everywhere? Too big a demand for the manufacturer Nintendo to keep up with? Or are they being as sneaky as Sony usually are and with-holding stock for the Christmas rush? Either way we’ve scoured the net and come up with a list of retailers that still have it in stock:

Everythingplay even have a dedicated ‘Wii Fit shop to show off just how much stock they have.
Comet have bundled the Wii Fit with the Wii Play and are selling it for £139.99.
Techfocus have a range of Wii Fits and accessories in stock.

Microsoft announce Xbox 360 price cuts

A press release has arrived from Microsoft, confirming that this Friday (19th September), the Xbox 360 prices will all be lowered right the range, and right across Europe. The new prices will be:
Xbox 360 Arcades drop from £159 to £129
60GB Pros from £199 to £169 and
120GB Elites from £259 to £229

The price cut has been anticipated for a while, with good ol’ Woolworths lowering their prices already, but now it’s official. This new competitive pricing is aimed to help the Xbox compete with Sony’s PlayStation 3 as we approach the dreaded Holiday season.

Xbox 360 Doubles Sales

As many of you probably remember Microsoft slashed the price of the Xbox 360 last month, the result of this being a double in sales. In saying that Microsoft has not actually released any figures to back this statement up, so we’re left questioning the accuracy of the Xbox 360 42% share of the market.

The Xbox 360 Arcade, Pro and Elite consoles were reduced last month to £160, £200 and £260 and are all available from Amazon.
